This is the original TOP CITY demo, showcasing the founding members in their earliest recordings! With only a handful of these cassette demos still in existence, it’s a real treat to have it digitized and shared here. John Howard’s soulful vocals shine throughout, complemented beautifully by Steve Hannah’s masterful keyboard work and arrangements.

TOP CITY Demo CD 1996
The 12 tracks on this 1996 demo were recorded entirely “live” in a single session at NAL Studios in North Vancouver with every song captured on the very first take! For any band, no matter how much rehearsal time they have under their belt, nailing a first-take live session like this is quite an accomplishment!

TOP CITY Demo CD 2013
2011 & 2012 marked a time of significant transition for the band with multiple personnel changes. We were thrilled to welcome Leslie (LJ) Mounteney and Claudio Girasole on vocals, alongside several talented new members: Garth Balint on trumpet, Don Ogden on bass, Steve Berger on lead guitar, Steve Bagnell on baritone sax, and Ben Lockwood and Jim Pinchin sharing tenor sax duties. With so many fresh faces and a revamped lineup, we felt a new demo was essential to accurately reflect the band’s new energy and evolved sound!
